Climbing is an adventurous activity which kids love. That’s why a lot of activity centres have a lot of climbing activities such as the Leap of Faith, or Jacob’s Ladder. High Ropes activities similar to Go Ape are also very popular. We do all those activities at most activity centres we go to, and we also do sessions dedicated to Bouldering, indoor Climbing on walls, and outdoor Rock Climbing.
Most climbing requires a qualified instructor. Whenever we go outdoor climbing we look for somebody who is qualified and who knows the site we are going to. But we don’t just let them do all the work – we teach the young people how to put on their harnesses, how to tie to ropes, and how to belay another climber. As with anything we do, activities involving climbing are safe, fun, and they learn how they can get into this hobby themselves and become that expert instructor in a few years time.

The Programme
4 Week Challenge
If you’d like to volunteer with us, but you aren’t sure if you want to commit, then don’t worry. We offer a 4-Week Challenge for new volunteers, with no obligation beyond that.
Week 1 – Come and see us at whichever section you think you’d be interested in. Observe, join in if you like, have a chat with the other volunteers and young people.
Week 2 – Come again, armed with the knowledge that you’ll be lending a hand and joining in with the activities. This is going to be the most fun you’ve had in a long time!!
Week 3 – If you’re up for it, we’ll give you a task to plan and carry out. This might be to run a game or simple activity, or anything else that you’re comfortable with giving a go. This could well be the scariest thing you’ll ever do, but could also be the most rewarding.
Week 4 – Crunch time! If you’re still interested, then we’ll have a chat about the past few weeks and how you feel about where you want to be. Congratulations! You just volunteered!!
