1st Clayton-le-Moors has had a long history of meeting at All Saints Church and Primary School. In the 1950s a wooden hut was built in the grounds behind All Saints School for the Group. This was replaced by a prefab concrete structure in 1982, which still stands today. Recently the building has been renovated to provide a small but modern-looking hall and increasingly important storage space. The building also contains a functioning kitchen and toilet room. Facilities in the hall include a projector, smartboard, and 4G wifi connection.
Outside the Scout Hut we have access to the extensive school fields, woodland, bushcraft area, gardens and yard. There is a pond which we can visit and a BBQ stand which we use on many occasions.
As well as our own building we hire out the School Hall for many of our meetings, which gives us a large space for activities when the weather is not so good.

4 Week Challenge
If you’d like to volunteer with us, but you aren’t sure if you want to commit, then don’t worry. We offer a 4-Week Challenge for new volunteers, with no obligation beyond that.
Week 1 – Come and see us at whichever section you think you’d be interested in. Observe, join in if you like, have a chat with the other volunteers and young people.
Week 2 – Come again, armed with the knowledge that you’ll be lending a hand and joining in with the activities. This is going to be the most fun you’ve had in a long time!!
Week 3 – If you’re up for it, we’ll give you a task to plan and carry out. This might be to run a game or simple activity, or anything else that you’re comfortable with giving a go. This could well be the scariest thing you’ll ever do, but could also be the most rewarding.
Week 4 – Crunch time! If you’re still interested, then we’ll have a chat about the past few weeks and how you feel about where you want to be. Congratulations! You just volunteered!!
