Community Support

A good Scout Group cannot exist alone…

1st Clayton-le-Moors Scout Group is sponsored by All Saints Church, Clayton-le-Moors. Sponsorship doesn’t mean that they fund us or make management decisions on our board, but it does mean that there is mutual support between us and the Church. As a church-sponsored organisation we get the best hire rates at All Saints school hall, and we support the Church by encouraging attendance in the congregation on Family Parades each month. We help each other out where we can and we spread news stories or requests for assistance within each of our spheres of influence.

We are also supported by All Saints CE Primary School in a similar way. We help each other out where possible and we both work at the same venue. Our Scout Hut is on school grounds and we use the facilities within those grounds on the understanding that we look after them as well as we can. In return we allow the school to use our Scout Hut when needed.

Part of the reasoning behind the community support that we each provide to the others is that we are all serving the same community. Of our youth members:

  • 46% go to All Saints CE Primary
  • 14% go to Mount Pleasant Primary
  • 4% go to St Mary’s Catholic Primary
  • 4% go to Altham St James CE Primary
  • 4% go to St Christopher’s CE Secondary
  • 3% go to Hyndburn Academy Secondary

The other 25% attend nearby schools in Rishton, Accrington, Gt Harwood, Clitheroe, and Sabden, or are still in pre-school. So anything that benefits the young people in our local area is to the benefit of our Scout Group, All Saints Church and All Saints School.
