Young Leaders

Why wait to lead?

At age 14, young people can join Explorer Scouts, and they can also become Young Leaders. They work alongside the adult volunteers as part of the leadership team to provide the programme to a younger Section. At the same time they develop leadership skills and gain experience that will be invaluable in later life.

As part of the Young Leader Scheme, there is a small amount of training and a number of missions to complete. These are designed to show that the Young Leader has gained experience in every aspect of leadership, and the prize is the Young Leader Belt buckle. Your section Team Leader will help you to access the training and introduce you to the Young Leader Leader in charge of it.
